Referrals

A referral is not required to visit a chiropractor, however we do accept many different kinds of referrals from other health practitioners including GP's, physiotherapists, dentists and podiatrists. Waters Family Chiropractic works closely with GP's in Mandurah and Pinjarra, many of whom refer to us in cases which chiropractic is able to help improve. We are happy to work closely with your doctor if a team care approach is required.

Medicare:

In circumstances that involve long-term health conditions (e.g. chronic low back pain), Medicare may provide up to five bulk-billed visits to the chiropractor per calendar year. Discuss with your GP to determine if you are eligible for chiropractic care under this referral, and they will decide the number of appointments that you can claim. You can then request that your GP refer you to Waters Family Chiropractic, or another chiropractor of your choice. When arriving at our clinic, please present your referral paperwork at reception before you receive care. You will need to pay for your appointment and claim from Medicare directly. For more information regarding Medicare referrals, you can visit the Department of Health website.

Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA):

If you are a Gold Card or White Card holder, you may be eligible for bulk-billed chiropractic services when referred by a GP or specialist. Please present your Gold or White DVA Health Card and referral paperwork at reception before you receive your treatment. The chiropractor will assess your need for chiropractic services, after taking into consideration any other related treatments you are receiving. Physiotherapy and chiropractic treatment cannot be provided for the same condition at the same time, so please advise if you have already received physiotherapy or chiropractic treatment within the past 12 months. For more information regarding DVA referrals, please visit the Department of Veterans' Affairs website.
